I come from using a cheap as you can find RGB keyboard that had lighting that you could use as a nightlight to see your way around in the dark, and the Cynosa falls short by A LOT.
Around the 6 month mark, the "S" and "D" keys started to severely rub/scratch off, and at the 8month mark(as of writing this review) both keys are just huge open boxes, with zero traces of the actual letter. I used one at my work PC for some time, in no small part because it's spill-resistant, and that feature got put to the test on multiple occasions. The G213 is a bit brighter, and the SteelSeries Apex 3 has stronger lighting on each key and extra lighting beneath its buttons – which means it features a bold, ethereal RGB glow beneath the keys. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but its typing action is good – so it’ll cope with mainstream gaming and esports. The lack of mechanical switches and macro keys will put off more seasoned gamers, but this is still a worthwhile option for anyone who fancies an entry-level board. When compared to the older Cynosa gaming keyboards, the V2 version uses the more advanced N-key roll over. I have not used it long enough to encounter the problems others have mentioned, like keys rubbing off, or ghosting. Gamers will traditionally lean towards mechanical keyboards with good reason, but they're also pretty loud, and can be expensive.It's not very intuitive for people who aren't used to RGB software, or who have used other RGB software that wasn't made by Razer.
That impacts build quality: the Razer is reasonably sturdy and is more robust than the SteelSeries and Logitech units, but it’s still easy to bend the plastic back and forth. Literally the first day of owning the keyboard, I was playing fallout 76, and while holding down a few keys I attempted to press "F" (like I always did with my lame wireless keyboard) and was rather shocked when the key wouldn't register. It could just be an isolated issue, but equally, I can't just pop it off and have a rummage around as I could on a mechanical keyboard. The Razer is one of the cheapest big-brand gaming keyboards around, which makes it ideal if you’re after a bargain. Slight irritations aside, it's actually not bad for gaming, and with access to the same features that you get on more expensive Razer keyboards.
